3/27 Closure Notice: The Motor Vehicle Registrar office at the FDL Tribal Center is closed today, Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Thank you.
3/26 Closure Due to Weather: Due to continued inclement weather conditions, all Fond du Lac Programs and Clinic operations, except our Minneapolis staff, will be closed today, March 26, 2024. Minneapolis staff will have a 2 hour late start at 10:00 am. All ALR, FDL C Store, and Casino staff will have normal operating hours.
3/26 Propane Closure Notice: Due to the closure, weather and road conditions, FDL Propane will NOT be doing any deliveries today, March 26th. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please always check your tank levels and call for a fill at 20-30%.

3/22 Ningaabii’anong Run/25th Celebration: Join us to walk or run and reflect on 25 years since the landmark affirmation of Ojibwe treaty rights by the US Supreme Court in the Mille Lacs v. Minnesota case. Volunteers will be provided a T Shirt and hat while supplies last. On March 22nd from 9 am - 3 pm, the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the historic Supreme Court victory by the GLIFWC Bands in the Mille Lacs v. Minnesota case will be held. The run is in memory of a run that was done from Lac du Flambeau to the US Supreme Court to deliver our prayers and carry our sacred staffs to sit in while arguments were made in the Supreme Court. 2/12 Cloquet Forestry Center Listening Session: A public listening session has been scheduled for February 13 to hear public comment on the University’s intended plans to return this land to the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The session will take place at the Cloquet Forestry Center auditorium (175 University Road, Cloquet, MN 55720) beginning at 3 p.m. and running until 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. 2/8 Lottery Notice: On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 9 a.m., the Reservation Business Committee held a lottery to determine the order in which the candidates in the Primary Election for the 2024 Regular Election will appear on the ballot. The lottery was held in the meeting chambers at the Fond du Lac Tribal Center and was broadcast through Zoom.

1/26 2024 Election Board Members: The RBC is seeking Band members to serve on the General Election Board or the District Election Boards in the upcoming Regular Election. 1/25 Food Box Distribution: FDL will distribute fresh, dried, and minimally processed food from local producers on Thursday, January 25, from 10 am to 3 pm, or until gone. 1/22 Seeking Local Produce: The Planning and Agricultural Division's are curating a food box with local goods that will be distributed on the 25th. We are looking for producers that would like to sell produce or value added products to the box. 1/9 NOTICE: The Wisconsin 1837 and 1842 Ceded Territory Conservation Code has been amended to extend the deer hunting season through 1/31. Interested Band members should contact the Conservation Clerk’s office to obtain a Wisconsin specific paper license. Please contact Conservation Clerk Terri Redding at (218) 878-7155 with questions or for more details. The fully amended Code is now available online here.
1/5 NOTICE: The last day for submitting deer heads for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing will be Friday, January 5th. Thank you to everyone who has participated. So far 156 heads have been submitted to the Resource Management Division office by tribal and state hunters from the Reservation and surrounding area. 135 heads have been submitted to the lab for testing and all have come back negative for CWD. The remaining heads will be shipped off for testing next week, and Resource Management hopes to continue the effort for the 2024 hunting season.

12/21 Summer REU Internships: The 2024 Research Experience for Undergraduates on Sustainable Land and Water Resources (REU SLAWR) internship is now available for applications. This REU introduces undergraduate students to the key elements of research on land and water resources that are essential to improving management practices. The deadline to apply was February 4, 2024, and the internship runs from June 10 - August 9, 2024.

They have selected Black Bear Casino Resort as a MOHR 2023 Employer Award Recipient! MOHR was particularly impressed with Black Bear's "welcoming environment, rotation of positions, and the sense of value instilled." 12/1 Public Notice: The Fond du Lac Office of Water Protection has received a request from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 for a Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the renewal of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit for Point Source Discharges from the Application of Pesticides (PGP). The PGP was originally issued in 2011 and renewed in 2016 and 2021. Each time, Fond du Lac has DENIED this Certification. Federal permits or licenses are only valid on the Fond du Lac Reservation if they have received 401 Water Quality Certification. The Office of Water Protection has issued a 30-Day Public Notice regarding the request for certification to invite interested parties to submit written facts, arguments, or objections to the address listed in the Public Notice. These statements should address the protection of water quality on the Reservation in regard to the PGP. Click here to read the full notice.

11/27 Wildfire Update: With the recent drying conditions, we have an elevated wildfire risk in the light fuels across the reservation. These fuels (tall grass, cattails, oak leaves, and pine needles) are the ones to dry out first and become more receptive to sparks as time goes on along with sunny days and wind. 11/21 AICHO to host first in-person session of Indigenous Writer Series: AICHO will co-host its first in-person Indigenous Writer Series session, featuring writers and publishers Thomas Peacock and Elizabeth (Betsy) Albert-Peacock on December 16, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center at 212 West 2nd Street, Duluth, MN. This event series will be co-hosted by The University of Minnesota, Duluth’s Department of American Indian Studies. Jill Doerfler, Ph.D., UMD Department of American Indian Studies Director and writer will be moderating this session. In their session, Peacock and Albert-Peacock will each talk about their books, read an excerpt of their books, participate in a Q&A segment, and sign books. AICHO will provide refreshments for event participants.

11/20 Press Conference and Native Heritage Month Reception: Northspan Group, Inc. and the Fond du Lac Band will be hosting a press conference and Native Heritage Month Reception celebrating the launch of a new program named DAWN, Driving Access to Wealth & Networks. DAWN’s mission is to address needs related to successful entrepreneurship and business growth among Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals in our region. 11/15 Friends of the BWCA: Fond du Lac Tribal Chairman, Kevin Dupuis, provided some key comments about the importance of the BWCA for the Friends of the BWCA Gala on September 30, 2023. Click here to see the video.
11/15 Vaccine Clinics Rescheduled: The vaccine clinics that were to be held October 25th and 26th have been rescheduled. The new remaining date is Wednesday, November 15th from 3:00 PM-5:30 PM at the Tribal Center Classroom for community members. Flu and Covid vaccines are available. Anyone who has not received a first flu or Covid vaccine will be asked to obtain this at their provider’s office. Click here to see a list of other area locations for vaccines.
11/14 AFDO Seafood Alliance HACCP Training: GLIFWC will be sponsoring an AFDO Seafood HACCP Training held at the Ojibwa Casino, Baraga, MI, on December 5 - 7. GLIFWC will pay the $136.50 HACCP Registration fee (which includes the course book), provide hotel rooms, and food and mileage reimbursements for qualified participants. Fond du Lac Band members, including subsistence fishermen and those active in harvesting and processing fish, are included.
11/13 Request for Proposals: The Fond du Lac Administration is soliciting proposals from individuals to create a painting, live during an event. We are seeking individuals with experience in medium scale painting to design and paint a canvas during a scheduled event. Fond du Lac Band would own the rights to the painting. Timeline of work will be 2.5 hours of the event. Please submit a proposal along with your experience and examples of work by December 15, 2023.

11/7 Health Notice: Health officials urge people not to eat WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit pouches. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising parents and caregivers not to buy or feed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches to children because the product may contain elevated levels of lead. WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches are sold nationally and are available through multiple retailers, including Sam’s Club, Amazon and Dollar Tree. Parents and caregivers of toddlers and young children who may have consumed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches should contact their child’s health care provider about getting a blood-lead test. There is no safe level of lead and children are most at risk for negative health effects from exposure to lead, such as decreased IQ. This is why health officials are encouraging parents to check for this product and not consume it. The investigation into this product is ongoing. 10/31 Public Notice: Fond du Lac Resource Management announces the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based on the Environmental Assessment (EA) conducted for the proposed Brookston Community Center Biomass Project. This project would entail the demolition of three existing garage/storage buildings on the west side of the parking lot of the Brookston Community Center, followed by the site preparation and construction of two adjoining buildings, one, a 57-foot by 58-foot biomass building to house the 2.2 mmBtu/hr wood chip boiler and associated infrastructure, and two, a 57-foot by 41-foot maintenance building to replace the demolished garages.
