Quality Assurance Coordinator, Full Time

Location: FDL Human Services

General Summary:

The Quality Assurance Coordinator will be responsible to manage, development and ongoing implementation of the continuous quality program for the Human Services Division (HSD). To direct and oversee the quality assurance department to assist HSD coordinators implement continuous quality improvement principles that ensure the highest standards of care for the Fond du Lac communities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish standards of quality measurement with the various HSD departments - medical services (medical, dental, pharmacy), behavioral health, substance use disorder (SUD), social services and community health services, prevention intervention, home health services (HHs)/assisted living residence (ALR); including develop quality improvement activities. Including goals, objectives and plans with division coordinators, managers and HSD team.
  • Establish data metrics, documentation standards and system tools to effective manage and update quality management procedures.
  • Maintain services delivery standards by monitoring and reporting adherence to quality assurance standards, policies and procedures, and Human Service Division’s mission.
  • Maintains quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Supervision of quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, providing corrective action to employees, planning, monitoring, and assisting in job functions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Prepare departmental and data quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, data trends and professional bench markers. Along with maintain compliance with industry requirements.
  • Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, quality issue reporting and continuous improvement within FDL HSD.
  • Establish patient / employee satisfaction measurement and monitoring systems to ensure highest level of care in a user focused system – based on establish FDL cultural standards.
  • Reports to management on quality assurance, issues, trends and system deficiencies.
  • Assist in implementation and development of policies, programs, and practice to ensure that organization complies with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Federal Data Privacy Act and Accreditation/Credentialing standards.
  • Monitors and administers compliance with key program coordinator to comply with federal, state, tribal and local regulations.
  • Ensures that departmental goals and objective are met through their establish Quality Assurance approved projects and budgets.
  • Develop short term and long term goals and objectives for the Quality Assurance Department and overall HSD continuous quality management plan.
  • Works with Human Resources and other HSD departments to development, planning and implementation of system wide HSD training programs to maintain compliance with various federal, state, and agency requirement for professional services.
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues and concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Appropriate work attire required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or similar health related field is required; Master Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing quality assurance programs, managing quality assurance programs, and/or implementing quality assurance activities is required.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a managerial role with multiple direct reports.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with Native American community’s culture, customs, and beliefs is required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with Native American clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Familiarity with health care and human services laws, regulations and standards is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a health care organization is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Some travel may be required
