Audio/Video Equipment Technician, Full Time Seasonal Temp

Location: FDL Resource Management

General Summary:

The Audio/Video Equipment Technician is responsible for the set up, operation, and troubleshooting of audio/video equipment during interviews with Tribal Elders and other community members to identify and document the presence of historic properties of spiritual and cultural significance within the Ceded Territories along the proposed Enbridge Line 3 pipeline route. Extensive travel is required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, adjust and operate audio and video recording equipment—digital camera, digital recorder, computer, and tripod—during Tribal Elder and community interviews.
  • Monitor equipment by watching gauges and other indicators to ensure equipment is operating properly and diagnose and resolve media system problems.
  • Type and save notes to hard drive and flash drive using a laptop computer if interviewee does not want to be audio or video taped.
  • Take thorough, accurate, and legible hand written notes when necessary.
  • Works closely and helps coordinate interviews with the Community Assistant in each Tribal community.
  • Works closely with the Community Interviewer and assists with interview process as needed.
  • Actively listens and gives full attention while operating audio/visual equipment during the interview process.
  • Respects, understands and observes cultural protocols related to obtaining traditional knowledge within each Tribal community.
  • Assists with referencing hard copy maps and other documentation during interviews.
  • Assists with transcribing interviews and reviews data obtained from interviews for completeness and accuracy.
  • Generates status reports as project requires.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds is required.
  • Prolonged standing and/or sitting, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling are required

Position Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot audio/video equipment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in interviewing using audio/video equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
