Digital Storytelling Contest

Every life has a story worth telling. Some might say every life is a story being told. Digital storytelling provides the storyteller with an opportunity to assess important elements/features/events/experiences in order to communicate something meaningful to an audience. Topics might include things like: what it means to fit in, what is feels like to not fit in, the biggest lie someone told me about life, how my younger brother became the only person I love, how I handle my anger and what happens when I don’t, who taught me how to think, how I know my mom loves me, how I know my dad loves me, what makes my family unique, what tools does a young man need to survive, what is my strategy for living a good adult life, what do I have to know to make it through a day, what does it mean to be a warrior, how does a warrior heal his wounds, what does it mean to defend the village, what my per cap did for me, how do I stay sober, how I managed my biggest loss, why do people like me, the things I care the most about, where do I see my life headed, etc.

The Native American Men’s Group (NAMG) has established the Digital Storytelling Contest to motivate men young and old to engage in the process of communicating something important about their lives that they wish to share with others. Several staff have received digital storytelling training and are able and willing to help any contestant. If you need to find assistance, please contact Deb Johnson Fuller (878-2130), Steve Thomas (878-3786), or Joe Bruce (481-3212).
