The Dental staff strive to
improve the dental health of Native American people by providing a
variety of preventive and restorative services and education.
Clinical Services
The Fond du Lac dentists and dental staff provide a full range of
dental services including examinations, X-rays, cleanings, periodontal
care, fissure sealants, fillings, crowns, full and partial dentures,
root canals, bleaching and oral surgery.
Orthodontics (Braces)
FDL enrollees may
be eligible for some contracted orthodontics services. In order to be
eligible, clients must first be screened by a FDL dentist and then
referred for the orthodontic care. Children are given top priority for
orthodontic services. A network of local specialists provides
orthodontic services.
Prevention
The dental staff provides educational programs throughout the year
at various events including the Annual Health Fair, Diabetic Clinics,
and WIC Pick-Up. During February, National Children's Dental Health
Month, several activities are targeted for children. Educational
videos are available for viewing by groups or individual clients.
Toothbrushes, floss, and brochures are provided to several programs
for distribution to clients.
The FDL dentists oversee fluoridation activities for two
fluoridated community wells that are maintained by a local water
operator. The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry provides
individual well analysis for fluoride through the Min No Aya Win
Dental Clinic.
