violence, removal from parent, etc,) by EMDR specialists (ask your

specific program that includes assessment, individual therapy and
group therapy.

and/or behavioral disturbances that impact family and/or educational
functioning. Young adults in need can also receive case management
services to assist in transitioning towards independence. With both
children and young adults, the case manager will create a plan to work
towards improved functioning and wellness.
CHEMICAL HEALTH
Assessments/Counseling/Community
Support
The Chemical Dependency counselors reach
out to Indian people through individual counseling, Rule 25
assessments, community education presentations, weekly AA meetings and
the monthly sobriety feast.
If it has been determined that a client
needs treatment, a FDL Chemical Dependency Counselor may assist the
client in finding and entering a treatment program. Clients who
qualify under State of Minnesota guidelines are eligible to receive
limited treatment funds. If a client is eligible, Fond du Lac will
pay for 100% of the cost of services, as long as the funds are
available.
Referrals for in-patient or outpatient
treatment services are made to in-house or local treatment programs
such as FDL Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction (AODA) out-patient
program,. Mash-ka-wisen and Miller Dwan, as needed and planned with
the client.
Sobriety feasts are held twice per
month. One feast is held the second Tuesday of every month for the
Duluth community at the YMCA and on the last Wednesday of the month at
the Brookston Center for the FDL community. Attendees are encouraged
to bring potluck for the event, which includes a speaker and a
medallion ceremony. Family members and other support persons are
invited to join the feast.
Aftercare
All Fond du Lac clients in treatment are
encouraged to receive Aftercare services. Discharge planning takes
place while the client is still in treatment. When treatment has been
completed, the client will stand a better chance of staying sober if
he/she follows the plan.
Aftercare groups are held weekly to help
clients deal with the issues that arise in the non-treatment,
non-protected environment with focus to relapse prevention. Most
importantly, clients get a chance to be with other people at more
mature stages of sobriety.
