Title: Lead Community Outreach Educator, Full Time
Location: FDL Human Services
Supervisor: Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Coordinator
Closing Date: March 27, 2023
Rate of Pay: $22.00 to $28.12 per hour

 

General Summary:

The role of Lead Community Outreach Educator (LCOE) is to assist the SUD Coordinator in organizing staff, outreach events and educational material for the community and program clients. The LCOE will ensure that all training and education material are up-to-date, that grant data collection is complete and accurate. Events will be held at times that best meet the needs of the community being served. LCOE will assist Recovery Case Manager (RCM) with client care as needed to meet client needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Schedule SUD educational and outreach events.
  • Develop resources and training education.
  • Develop and maintain Public Services Messages.
  • Order supplies for outreach and community events.
  • Inventory supplies and props used for outreach and education.
  • Schedule and coordinate repairs and maintenance of In-Plain-Sight Trailer and other equipment.
  • Provide community and staff trainings in NARCAN and other Opiate/drug prevention/intervention techniques.
  • Conducted treatment education groups at Tagwii sites as requested by coordinator.
  • Coordinate staff needed for evets with Site Supervisor, Lead Recovery Case Managers and Coordinator/s.
  • Complete required data collection as requested.
  • Submit monthly reports to the department coordinator – including grant reports.
  • Record contacts and field notes in client’s file, as appropriate.
  • Travels to multiple locations to attend SUD Department events and activities.
  • May be requested to assist clients with transportation.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all records for employees, band members and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years of age.
  • AA Degree in Chemical Dependency or Human Services is required. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Health Education or LADC is preferred.
  • Must complete Fond du Lac NARCAN training within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be CPR certified; if not currently certified must become CPR certified within 3 months of hire is required and must maintain CPR certification for duration of employment.
  • If chemically dependent, must be free of use for at least two (2) years and able to document length of sobriety, and continued sobriety is required.
  • Familiarity with the Fond du Lac community and its resources is required.
  • One to three years’ experience working with Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is required.
  • One to three years’ experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Position requires on call availability.
  • Operations may consist of shift work; seven days a week and on holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Subject to immunization review and submitted proof of required vaccinations.
  • Travel is required.
