General Summary:

The Lead Bartender is responsible for the supervision and training of all beverage servers, bar backs and bartenders. Ensures that service delivery is of the highest standards and efficient in all the bars and on the casino floor. Follows all outlined operating procedures, including safety, policies and procedures. Directs all aspects and functions of the bar outlets, in accordance with company policy and standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the bar and beverage services.
  • Participates in marketing the beverage department, increasing sales.
  • Coordinates staff activities with the food and beverage manager, to include training and orientation.
  • Assists in developing and implementing written policies and procedures.
  • May be included in the selection of beverage staff.
  • Assists in performance evaluations of direct reports as well as applying progressive disciplinary action.
  • Provides direction, trains, and assists bartenders and beverage servers.
  • Must use fact-based decision making, involving other departments as necessary to ensure positive impact and resolution.
  • The Lead Bartender must be a role model in the area of attendance, management and customer service. This position must provide leadership and team work within the department.
  • Directs and schedules all daily work activities of assigned personnel within the beverage department.
  • Attends necessary meetings and trainings.
  • Orders, making sure there is adequate stock on hand.
  • Ensures bar areas are supplied with the necessary inventories and supplies and completes necessary inventory forms for control and reordering purposes.
  • Adheres to established guidelines that all inventory activity is kept in compliance with current Casino Hotel Alcoholic Beverage Control and all other applicable regulations.
  • Assists in delivering supplies to bar areas, keeps bar and equipment clean.
  • Responsible for monitoring of equipment, making sure everything is in working condition.
  • Lead Bartender is responsible for safeguarding all assets under their control.
  • Responsible and accountable for all cash advances and sales. Completes all necessary documentation.
  • Builds a strong cohesive team by creating an environment of teamwork and lateral service.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of service for our guests.
  • Ensures that beverages are prepared and served according to desired portions and quality specifications.
  • Schedules and works staff breaks and shifts as assigned.
  • Responsible for quality control during assigned shifts.
  • Mixes and serves all types of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to order following a variety of established recipes. Delivers drink to beverage waitperson or serves directly to the customer. Also provides food preparation service.
  • Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials and vehicles utilized per work site; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe use and operation of equipment, tools, materials and vehicles.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work with prolonged standing required.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions, including working in a smoking environment.
