Project Intersect
Ms. Dawn, Ms. Heidi and Mr. Anderson

The 3rd and 5th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in Project Intersect this year due to their teacher’s commitment in being involved with P.I.

They put together a year-long plan, and with that, the students will have plenty of opportunities to use their skills into practical and hands on standard based learning.

Here is just a sample of the 3rd & 5th Grade Year long P.I Goals.

  • September-Beading and Rice Camp
  • October- Treaty Rights/ Visit FDL Tribal Council Offices
  • November- Field trip to the Tweed Museum-Native Artists/Planetarium- Native American Astronomy; Canvas Painting & Bead work
  • December- Wigwametry; Drum Making & Winter Songs
  • January- 4 Seasons Quilt; Reading Birch bark House
  • February- Presenter Jack Peil; 13 Moons
  • March- Westward Migration; Beading
  • April-Sugar Bush; Making Moccasins & Regalia; Wisconsin Pointe Tour; Presenter-Betsy Albert Peacock & Elders
  • May- Finishing of Quilt; Northwest Fur Trade Field Trip; Native American Sports; 4 Seasons Play; Wolf Ridge/Forte Williams Field Trip

Within these activities/projects and field trips the teachers will be using different learning styles during their Core Subjects including Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Art when incorporating their P.I Lessons.

These students will be filled with amazing projects/activities and knowledge of their Ojibwe Culture. It will be exciting to see this all unfold with their Final Presentation in June!! Miigwech Teachers!!
