Weekly News

Reading:
Please have your child read for 20 minutes each day and remember to write down what they read about. Several students are writing their read and responds in their planners. This is a great way to keep everything together in one place. If your child has lost his/her planner, a notebook will also work to keep track of events and reading.

Mathematics:
We began completed Topic 7 test on two digit multiplication and continue practice using partial products to solve these problems. Please continue facts practice for mastery.

Social Studies:
We continue to read the BirchBark house book. Students should continue to study the capitals and states.

Science:
We continue to learn about ecosystems. See attached parent note for vocabulary and home activities.

Language Arts/Grammar/Writing:
There will be no spelling test for next week. Students will be reviewing what makes a good sentence using subjects and predicates. We’ve been reviewing nouns, verbs and adjectives. Students will complete a descriptive paragraph on their paper ornament that they will design.

Special Notes:
Students completed the NWEA mathematics and reading assessments on the computers for the middle of the year benchmarks. Most student made progress in both subject area. Your child received an incentive if he/she improved in either area. Please ask if they have made progress. It is very exciting to see that students are trying their best to improve in reading and math and showing their best effort.
