Project Intersect Begins in Cloquet School District
94 and Fond du Lac Ojibwe School
We are excited to announce a new project called
Project Intersect that your child will have the opportunity to participate
in this year! Your child’s teacher volunteered to be involved in the
project and learn new strategies to add to your child’s overall learning
experience.
Project Intersect is a new federally funded project
for selected teachers and students in grades 1-8 in the Cloquet School
District 94 and Fond du Lac Ojibwe School. The project is designed to
increase students’ interest, understanding, enthusiasm, and performance in
standards-based art education, language arts, mathematics, and science.
Your child’s teacher, along with other teachers in these two districts,
completed training last summer to integrate American Indian arts and
cultural activities into language arts, math, and science education.
Teachers will partner with local American Indian
artists to create a learning environment where your child will not only
gain basic skills but will also learn more about Ojibwe culture. We invite
and encourage you to participate in any activities throughout the year.
If you have any questions about the project, please
contact me or the Project Director, Connie Hyde at 218-879-3393, extension
