2nd Grade Classroom
Weekly News

Wow! What a busy, fun-filled first week of school we’ve had! This week we spent much of our time getting to know each other and our new rooms. We did a great job learning about rules and expectations and how important it is for second graders to be responsible. The highlight of our week was our canoeing field trip to Molstad’s. We learned a ricing song in Ojibwe and each got a chance at paddling in a canoe. We did a great job with behavior and keeping our bodies safe. Here’s how we spent the rest of our week…

Reading: This week in SFA we spent our time together learning about the importance of “Getting Along”! We focused on active listening and did some fun team-building activities! We will continue this into next week.

Math: In Math we spent our time working in numerous centers that helped us review important skills from last year. We also reviewed patterning and learned how to string and bead on our own looms. Check out our first beading projects – they are so cool!

Spelling: We will begin Spelling next week. Please be looking for spelling words to be coming home next Tuesday.

Science: Our first unit in Science with focus on plants. This week we went on a nature scavenger hunt and found numerous plants and items that come from our environment. It was a beautiful day and we had a nice time enjoying all of Mother Nature’s gifts.
