Winter has arrived and so have the Christmas jitters. We are very excited for the upcoming holiday but have managed to still be very productive second graders. This will be the last newsletter that I will write for 2008. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year! Here’s how we spent our week… SFA: Please encourage your child to read over the holiday break. The week students return from break they will be assessed with the SRI. This test is very important and will determine their placement for the remainder of the quarter. Read! Read! Read! Writing: This week we spent time “free” writing in our journals. We got to choose our topics and the format that we wrote in. Math: In Math this week, we did a lot of activities that reinforced counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. This is a very important skill that can be practiced at home as well. We were also assessed on our recognition of coins and their values. Science/Social Studies: We didn’t get to Science this week due to a change in our schedule. We celebrated Christmas with our reading buddies and did a Christmas craft in the classroom. Special News
Have a great weekend! Mrs. Martin
