Library Media Center

Our Collection:
Beginning in first grade, students are allowed to check out books. The library’s collection of over 14,000 items provides many choices for students, staff, and families of the school.

The LMC is divided into two large areas, one for elementary through grade 6 students, and one for middle and high school students. We divide our collection into Easy books, elementary books, and young adult books, and we further divide the books into elementary and secondary Native American collections. The LMC also houses a Parent Resource section.

Student Use:
Fond du Lac Ojibwe School students have access to our well equipped Library Media Center (LMC). Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade come to the LMC 30 minutes each week. Students in seventh through twelfth grade come to the LMC before first hour class, during other class times, or during lunch.

More than Books:
The 10 computers available to students can be used for research and other school related projects as well as searching the collection or checking on one’s own account. The LMC also houses the equipment for the school-wide video network, including live TV, and video playback.

Activities:

Reading Buddies
Students in grades one through three have an additional 30 minutes in the LMC each week to read with their Reading Buddy.

Book-It
Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade can choose to participate in Book-It from October through March. Each month a student completes a Book-It calendar by recording the amount of minutes read each day. At the end of the month, all minutes are totaled up and must equal or exceed the required listed amount, a parent/guardian signs and returns the calendar to the school and the child receives a certificate for a free Personal Pan Pizza. This works very well with our required SFA reading 20 minutes every night!

Book Fair
We have moved the Book Fair to coincide with our spring conferences! In the past it has always been a Buy One Get One Free sale. Watch for notices and information in the future.
