Homebase

The Homebase part of the FACE Program is
made up of two vital Components. The first being the Personal Visit. On a
Personal visit the Parent Educator will:
- Establish and continue rapport with parent/s
and child/ren
- Discuss Parent's Questions and Concerns
- Involve Parent/s in an activity with their child/ren
- Discuss Observations of Child/ren strengths and
developmental progress
- Discuss Timely Child Development information
- Administer Child development screening at
appropriate age levels
- Summarize the visit
- Ask parent if there are any other concerns or
questions
- Make a date for next visit
The second part of the Homebase program is the Group
Meeting. The group meeting is typically offered one time a month for
approximately 2hrs. A typical group meeting will go as follows:
- Greeting
- Refreshments
- Parents settle children in Child care room
- Parent meeting, on which the topics vary from
developmental child issues, to parenting subjects, to community
issues.
- Parent-Child activity
- Hearing and Visions screen once or twice a year
- Closing
The group meeting component of the FACE program is a
means of presenting child development information and providing parents an
opportunity to share experiences, develop lasting friendships and form new
support networks.

The Fond du Lac FACE program's homebase
component is modeled after the National Center for Parents as Teachers.
